No workout equipment? No problem!

My gym is my sane place. While some trainers make their living from workouts entitled ‘Insanity’, I look at my workouts as the exact opposite – they keep me from going insane.

So when the gym closures caused by COVID-19 shut the doors of my local gym, I wasn’t sure how I was going to maintain the level of fitness I’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Without a doubt, we will resume our seasonal hiking and biking routines a little earlier than usual. When the weather warms up and the rain goes away for more than a day, we’ll head out to the tennis courts. Cardio-based activity is easy to put together.

It’s the strength-training that’s hard.

I have a couple of sets of dumbbells and some resistance bands, and I will be making use of those, adapting my usual gym routine to fit. But for those who do not have equipment at home, and especially for those who are struggling to make ends meet during this crisis, I’ll do what I can to share workouts that do not require you to sell your firstborn to Amazon.

Keep in mind that I am not the creator of these workouts, and I’ll give credit each time I post. And you should check with your doctor before engaging in any physical activity.

The 1000 Rep Apocalypse A** Kicker Workout

  • Squat x 20
  • Push-up x 20
  • Mountain climbers x 20
  • Sit ups x 20
  • Jumping Jacks x 20

10 rounds, 1000 reps!

After round 6, I was flat on the floor. I took a quick break and then finished it out. My heart was definitely pumping!
